Spirit of the Network
The Aboriginal Interagency exists to strengthen relationships between Aboriginal organisations, mainstream services, government agencies and community partners who are committed to improving outcomes for Aboriginal people.
We recognise that strong relationships create strong communities. By coming together regularly, sharing knowledge openly and working collaboratively, we can reduce duplication, improve referral pathways and create more connected, culturally safe services.
The Interagency is founded on respect, reciprocity, generosity and the understanding that no single organisation can meet every need alone. We value the wisdom, leadership and lived experience of Aboriginal people and acknowledge the importance of self-determination in all that we do.
The Interagency is not a decision-making body. It is a place to connect, learn, collaborate and strengthen our collective impact.
Our Aims
The CHAI seeks to:
– Build respectful relationships across organisations and sectors.
– Strengthen communication between services.
– Improve referral pathways and reduce barriers for community members.
– Share information about programs, funding opportunities, training and community initiatives.
– Promote Aboriginal-led organisations, leadership and community priorities.
– Identify emerging issues affecting Aboriginal communities.
– Support collective responses where appropriate.
– Celebrate successes, innovation and good practice.
– Create opportunities for learning, networking and cultural understanding.
